This matchup would pit two Champions from different ECM weightclasses against one another. Manne entered the matchup having just moved down to the Light Heavyweight Division still holding the ECM Heavyweight title against the current ECM Light Heavyweight Champion Shogun Gracie. When Gracie heard the news of Manne dropping down weightclasses he quickly challenged the Heavyweight Champ and this dream matchup was born. The hype surround it lead all the way to the sound of the bell and the fight delievered going all 3 rounds and to the score cards to crown a winner.
